Season in Review: 2012

Despite losing six starters from their line up in 2012,  the Knights had a strong season.   They finished second in districts, sending them to the playoffs for the second year in a row and second time in their short five year history.  The Knights won their Regional Quarterfinal match vs.  Gainesville Eastside to advance to the Regional Semifinal match where they faced off against Bartram Trail, before losing.  The Knights finished fourth in Conference and ended their season with a 15-14 record. 

The Knights were led this season by seniors Emily Davanzo, Hannah Gupton, Sam Borntraeger, Heather Garay, Laura Connolly and Kaylie Prete.  Emily led the team in kills, service aces and points while Hannah led the team in digs.  Sam and Heather were strong threats out of the middle and right side, while Laura and Kaylie provided depth in the defense.  These girls continued to push themselves and carry on a new tradition in volleyball.

Helping the Knights this season were (junior) Allison Davanzo, (sophomores) Rachel Gupton and Mackenzie Lary and (freshman) Sophie deJong.   Allison Davanzo led the team in blocks and provided some young leadership to the team.  Mackenzie came in and provided a strong defense.  Rachel stepped up into the setting role and helped provide a fast tempo offense and deliver leadership needed from a setter.  More players contributing to the lineup were Tiana Colllins,  Ali French , Annie Glover,  and  Morgan Andreoni  Their defense, serving, and attacking have offered a variety of options this year.

***Senior Emily Davanzo was named to the All County List as well as to the Jacksonville All First Coast Team.  Junior Allison Davanzo was also named to the All County List and Honorable Mention in Jacksonville All First Coast Team.
