First of all, we’d like to thank the entire staff at Creekside for being so hospitable this year. It was an amazing venue for this year’s technology fair and we appreciate all of your help and support. We’d also like to thank those of you who presented this year. We firmly believe that when teachers see how valuable technology can be to instruction, they will embrace it in their own classrooms. By showcasing at this year’s technology fair, you’ve inspired many of your colleagues to incorporate a new piece of technology into their instruction. Finally, we would like to thank all of you who attended the technology fair. We know that learning about and using a new technology can be a daunting challenge, but we hope that during the variety of presentations you were able find a few valuable ideas for your own classroom.
This past Friday, February 12th, we held our third annual District Technology Fair and it was a huge success. We had close to 200 in attendance and it was great to see colleagues from around the district sharing best practices in technology.
This year’s fair consisted of 33 presenters on topics like SMART Board use, CPS (clickers), Classroom Blogs, Skype and Podcasting to name a few. Some of our more popular topics were iPod Touch in the Classroom, Animoto (creative slideshow website), XtraNormal (easily created animation website) and VoiceThread (best way to describe is to go to the website and look at examples-very useful tool in the classroom).
We would like to thank all who attended and all who were gracious enough to provide their time to present at this year’s fair.
Please feel free to share your comments about the fair or provide any feedback that may help us make improvements for next year’s fair.
With all of the emerging technologies that students are now exposed to, are today’s classrooms equipped with the proper tools to engage our students? Are we as educators keeping our students engaged in their learning? This quick clip is a commercial from Kaplan University. We are in no way tied to Kaplan or do we promote them over any other school, but the commercial does a good job of making us think about our classrooms and our students. Please feel free to leave any comments regarding your feelings about the clip or our classrooms in the district (To leave a comment, click on ‘Comments’ just below the video and fill out your name and email- you can leave website blank).
